Handmade Gift Exchange 2010

Most people know that I started making handmade items for my design brand this year. It's been a great year of learning and growth. I've gobbled up loads of great info on craft & design blogs for inspiration. One of these blogs Craftaholics Anonymous run by the amazing Linda Gardner, hosted a handmade gift exchange. I jumped at the chance to trade handmade items with a fellow crafter. I signed up for both the domestic & international exchanges and awaited the email that would link me to my exchange partners.

My international partner is Elle. She is from the UK and she is one very talented lady! She not only runs the really fun craft blog The Crazy Gecko but also two great shops on Folksy & Etsy! I knew my Japanese kanzashi flower brooch & real leaf key-chain would be great for her:

It turns out her hubby is a big fan of Canada and took to the keyring right away. I love when you can snag an unexpected fan! Elle says she loves the brooch and how awesome is that?! Here are my amazing gifts from Elle:

It's a cute little bag to hang from my sewing machine to catch threads! I gotta tell you I'm going to get so much use out of this! She even hand embroidered the leaf design with gold thread....so cute! The keyring is also perfect as I recently lost my favorite keyring charm. I was on the look out for a new one and this arrived and BAM! Magic!

My domestic partner (hee..hee..hee) is Amanda. She is from California and she's very talented as well. She runs three (yes three) Etsy shops: GigglesandSunshine KeepUp & blingandbaubles and the craft blog Gaga Over Crafts. Based on her love of color and rocking sense of style I thought my owl muslin headband and flower key-chain would be perfect for her:

Turns out her daughter adores the owl headband and has kept it for herself! I know my daughter loves her owl headband that I made for her so it makes perfect sense! Hopefully Amanda gets to keep the key-chain for herself! Here are my gifts from Amanda:

I got a really cute double yarn braid necklace (which my daughter took right away), a fun fuchsia pink dahlia hair clip & some adorable (and extremely useful) snowflake gift tags! I know for certain that I will wear the hair clip a ton because I have short hair and I love to use accessories to "doll" it up :) As for the gift tags they pretty much are all spoken for...well as soon as this snow blizzard gets over with so I can go Christmas shopping!

I had so much fun and hope to do it again next year. Elle & Amanda are pretty great and it's pretty awesome that the luck of the draw brought us together!
