Rest Mat For Kindergarten

We got Uriyah's school supplies list a few weeks ago and included on that list was a vinyl rest mat. I began my search to find the perfect mat but everything I looked at was either too uncomfortable looking or too plain. I then got to thinking that I should make it myself. I went right away to Google and found this: Nap Mat Tutorial It was exactly what I was looking for!  I love how it has a built in pillow & handle and how it rolls up for easy transporting.

Things got tricky when I started searching for fabric as it had to be vinyl (for easy spill cleaning I presume). I again turned to my trusty Google and found this amazing oilcloth fabric by Etsuko Furuya at this really cute online fabric store called Fabric Worm.

I just finished the mat today and I love it. I made some changes from the original pattern by omitting the blanket and cutting the width down by 4 inches. I can't wait to send Uriyah off to school with this super trendy mat! Just a few more weeks left to go!
